Viaive
Editorial Methodology

The Viaive Standard

Defining the architecture of modern luxury travel through rigorous methodology, unwavering transparency, and the pursuit of quiet excellence.

PRINCIPLE 01

Editorial Judgment

Our recommendations are never bought. We operate with a strict separation between our advisory services and our editorial narrative. Every destination featured has been vetted by our collective of global specialists who prioritise cultural resonance over commercial popularity.

"Luxury is not a price point; it is a commitment to intentionality and craftsmanship."

THE FRAMEWORK

Evaluation Criteria

Spatial Integrity

We evaluate how a property breathes. From the flow of the lobby to the privacy of the terrace, spatial design must facilitate both connection and solitude. A room that fails acoustic separation fails regardless of thread count.

FLOW LIGHT ACOUSTICS

Service Intuition

Predictive hospitality that feels invisible yet omnipresent. We look for the moment your needs are met before you voice them — a standard we call the Viaive Nod.

Local Context

Does the property belong to its land? We prioritise locations that honour local craft and ecological responsibility without sacrificing comfort or convenience.

The Atmospheric Benchmark

Our final metric: how a space makes you feel when the sun begins to set.

The Detail

Hotel Evaluation Principles

01

The 42-Point Assessment

Properties are evaluated against a 42-point framework spanning design, service architecture, local integration, wellness offering, and environmental responsibility. No single category can compensate for fundamental failures elsewhere.

02

Independent Verification

Every property listed has been personally verified by a named Viaive editor or specialist — not sourced from press trips, complimentary stays, or aggregator feeds. Verification date and editor name appear on each recommendation.

03

Regular Re-Evaluation

The hospitality landscape shifts. A property that met our standard eighteen months ago may not meet it today. Every listed property is subject to a 90-day reassessment cycle. We will remove a property when the standard slips.

04

No Paid Endorsements

No property has ever paid to appear in a Viaive recommendation. Affiliate links — clearly marked with a Commission-linked badge — are placed only after editorial assessment confirms a property meets our standard. The editorial decision and the commercial relationship are strictly separated.

Commercial Disclosures

Transparency is our primary currency. While we partner with select booking platforms under Travelpayouts (partner ID 726557) for curated affiliate commerce, all commission-linked placements are explicitly marked. Our advisors do not accept arrangements that influence the editorial ranking of properties.

Wellness Guardrails

In an era of performative wellness, we vet health claims against scientific backing. Our Guardrails ensure that spa retreats and longevity programmes meet actual medical and therapeutic standards before we recommend them — not merely plausible-sounding marketing.

Science & Standards

Inquiries & Clarifications

How are properties selected for the Viaive collection?
Properties are chosen based on our 42-point assessment framework, focusing on spatial design, service intuition, local context, wellness integrity, and ecological responsibility. An editor must have verified the property personally before it enters the collection.
Does Viaive accept paid reviews?
No. Viaive does not accept payment for editorial coverage, rankings, or recommendations. Where affiliate partnerships exist, they are applied only to properties that have already met the Viaive Standard through independent editorial evaluation.
What defines a Wellness Guardrail?
A Wellness Guardrail is our editorial requirement that any spa, longevity programme, or therapeutic service make only claims supported by published clinical evidence or established therapeutic consensus. We flag or remove properties whose wellness claims cannot be substantiated.
How often are evaluations updated?
Every listed property is subject to a 90-day reassessment cycle. Major changes — ownership transfers, renovation closures, documented service failures — trigger an immediate out-of-cycle review. Each page displays the date of last editorial verification.
Can a property appeal a removal from the collection?
Yes. Properties removed from the collection may submit a formal appeal via our editorial desk at [email protected]. Appeals are reviewed within 30 days. Reinstatement requires a re-verification visit by a named Viaive editor.
